    Jules mercier in Valencia Spain

Jules, who graduated in 2022 from the EEIGM, told us about his semester in València.

"My name is Jules and I'm doing my research internship in València, Spain.

Why València? Well, because I really wanted to visit Spain but also cause I really wanted to be on my own and adapt myself in a foreign country.

I chose València contrary to my friends who decided to go to Barcelona. In the end, I don't regret my choice at all. I met amazing people there, coming from all sides of the world.

About my work, my internship consisted in the improvement of snowboard made in composite materials. I could therefore use softwares that I learnd to use during my studies in Nancy, and practice on real situations. Thus, I can already adapt what I learnd to the sports environment, which is really cool.

Finally, and it's the main reason I go abroad, the travelling part. Spain really has so many possibilities for travelling. Since I arrived in València, 2-3 months ago, I haven't spent a single week-end home."

Introducing to you, the world of research within the EEIGM consortium! At the heart of innovations lie materials, driven by the exciting outcomes derived from our research initiatives – an integral part of the EEIGM training program.

The research-based learning equips EEIGM students to kickstart their careers seamlessly, whether delving into the realm of academic exploration or venturing into the corporate landscape, where initial assignments predominantly revolve around research and development challenges.

A standout feature of EEIGM is its network of 30 research laboratories strategically positioned within partner universities. These laboratories not only host students for approximately 6-month research internships (complementary to their industrial placements), but also engage in collaborative endeavors that significantly contribute to advancements in materials science and engineering.

Beyond the mandatory extended research internship, EEIGM students actively participate in various projects closely tied to research-driven learning.

Moreover, EEIGM proudly hosts the Erasmus Mundus Research Master's in Science and Engineering of Materials (AMASE), a two-year program. In tandem with scientific coursework, students enrolled in this master's program embark on research projects that enhance their academic journey.
